FIRST GOLD GOES TO...................................ALEX BILODEAU

On Sunday February, 14 2010 history was made on Cypress Mountain, BC, Canada, as Canada's Alex Bilodeau took home the first ever gold medal on home soil in the Olympics. Everyone expected Jennifer Heil to win the first gold medal in woman's moguls. However it was the opposite gender but same sport that took home the gold. His brother Frédéric Bilodeau was born with cerebral palsy. Brother Alex said, "he is my insipration, and a differance maker in my life." The docter told Frédéric that he wouldn't walk after the age of 10, not only did he walk after 10 he was skiing the slops with his brother. Alex said,"On the days that I don't want to go train, I think of Frédéric and how he can't go train." There is 1 gold medal for Canada so far, but i know that there will be more to come.

Kyle Parrott of Minnedosa, Manitoba raced his first race on Monday, Febuary 15.
Alexandre Biloeau was Canada's first is gold metalist for Canada. He won his gold metal on Sunday, February 14.

Winners!

Alexandre Bilodeau got Canada's first gold last Sunday (Feb 14) in men's freestyle moguls. He was the first ever to win a gold medal when Canada was holding the Olympics. He had a great run! His first jump was a double twisting back flip, and his second was a back flip with an iron cross. He landed them both and his knees were tight together going around the moguls. Kristina Groves won a bronze on Sunday (Feb 14) in Speed Skating! She was competing in women's 3000 meters. Her time in this race was 4:04.82 seconds. I have watched a lot of the Olympics so far like moguls, figure skating (pairs), speed skating, and luge. I love to watch all of it!

Olympic Opening Ceremonies

The Olympic opening ceremonies were held on Friday, February 12th. They were amazing. They had lots of entertainment, some needed moments of silence and of course lots to do with the Olympics. My favourite part was the performance by Nelly Furtado and Byran Adams singing a Athlete Tribute song, called Bang the Drum. There were a few difficulties but they were passed smoothly. The big secret that was held (who would be the final tourch carrier) was then released. The final tourch carrier was Wayne Gretzky. Betty Fox who was rumored may be the final tourch carrier actually carried the official Olympic flag along with five others.
This picture is before the teams parade. Canada had the 2nd biggest team next to USA. USA had 208 and Canada had 206.

Tragedy and the Olympics

Nodar Kumaritashvili a Georgian Luger has died from a horrible accident hours before the start of the Olympic games, People said the track was to fast at the point that he died and now I believe that, and he was only 21 years old. Now I think that is enough said and this was going to be his first Olympic games to. So sad. (The video is terrible and kinda gruesome so just don't watch it) R.I.P. Nodar Kumaritashvili.

Blog Challenge - HELP MR. O!!!

Hi guys, I need your help.

As you can see, I have added a picture to the header.  Two problems:
  1. I don't want the picture to be so high, but I want it to stretch across the whole page.  This is a technical issue.  It has to do with HTML code.  I was on the trail last night, but ran out of gas.
  2. I want to know what picture should be our header?  I only want serious suggestions, please.  Remember, it is a school blog and it has to do with the daily happenings of Room 107.
Some ideas that I had were:
  • A winding road (sort of a metaphor of how we never no where life is taking us)
  • A beautiful prairie sky (with the idea that "the sky's the limit")
  • Olympic rings (good for now, but I'd like to have something stay there)
Some of the other teachers that I have checked out, use an open window (the blog is always open) or a picture of their school for a picture on the header blog.

What do you guys and girls think?

BY THE WAY, I THINK THAT I ALSO CHANGED THE EDIT POST PART...MADE IT BETTER, I HOPE!

Olympic Challenges = Lots of fun!

The x games yesterday were pretty awesome! It was fun when we had to race around the tables in the library because it was hard to go fast while having linked arms and not trip over chairs. Sparta came in last... but don't get your hopes up everyone because we are coming back!!! The winter writing rules was soo fun! When we dashed out the door and started to run through the deep snow, my shoes got FULL of snow. I think everyone else's did too! haha. Then three of us got piled in snow. That was shocking and fun! For another idea, maybe we could do something like on family fued where two people get asked a question and you have to be the first one to buzz in and try and guess the right answer? This was a great idea Mr. O! Thanks

MR O MR O MR O

Hey Mr. O! I GOT THAT MATH EQUATION THINGER! I have it on my blog at the bottom and I'll show you how to get it tomorrow! :):) Here's an example!

X-Games+Olympics+School=Awkward (HAHAHAHA see what I did there because its Math)

Hello, as you all may or may not know the Olympics are going on in a few days so Mr.O had a great idea. Are you confused by the title and what im saying, well our class is combining school and fun, I know it sounds great and it is. OK so yesterday we did a MAD minute (RAWR!!!) and after everyone in our group was done the math part we locked arms and ran like a person running fast, and then we ran into the Library (so much for being quiet) ran around a table and another and another and there is about 7 or 8 tables people in the Library were walking out of the side rooms staring and looking like what are those people doing?!?! people in our group were tripping over chairs slowing us down but its OK we were still doing pretty good, so then we ran through the Life Skills Suite and back to room 107. Where then we had to do 100 push-ups oh yes 100!!! well Drew did 50 I did about 17, but everyone in the group had to do at least 1 push-up, that was fun. Oh ya GO ATHENS (everyone else is going down we were just warming up that's why we only got 8 points you just wait)

Cookies~!~

A cookie dough recipe calls for 2 and 1/2 cups of flour.
How much flour is needed for a doubled recipe?

Crazy olympic thingy aka x games

WOW! That was acctually a hard race, because peolpe kept falling down or tripping over chairs. For the race we started with a mad minute sheet. Then we locked arms in the hallway and ran in the library. We had to run around the tables with our arms still locked. After that we went back to the room and every team had to do 100 push up's. It was narly.

Common Denominator- Multiplacation

Multiplacation Reciprical

Common Denominator.

Today in class we started off with reveiwing Common Denominators and Multiplacation of fractions. We corrected numbers 7-11 on page227 and 228. questions 12-16 are due for tommorow on page 228. You could either use the metod of common denominator or multiplacation. either way you will get the same answer with both methods. on a test, to check your answers, you could just do the question the other way and if the answers and different, then the answers probably wrong. THERES A CHAPTER 6 TEST NEXT WEEK. DONT FORGET, IF YOU DO, DONT MAKE UP EXUSES!!

snowboarding!!!!

This is a pic of Olympic Snowboarding, which is the best winter olympic sport ever!

crazed olympic race

It was awesome!! We were race'n down the hall, locked arms, at pretty good speed. We were going around the tables in the library when all of a sudden I biffed it and screwed up my knee : ( Our team had to continue on so I ran back to the class where they were later doing push ups and I dominated at that!! in the end we won the event and got 6 points__!!!!, ow and did i mention GOOOOOOOO THEBES!!!!!!!!!!!

Olympic Challenge

For the first Olympic Challenge we had to do a sheet of math questions. When we were done we would go out into the hall and wait t for the fest of our team to finish. Once everyone was done we had to all lock arms and run into the library and go around all the tables, go throught hte life skills door and go back to our class. There we had to do 100 pushups then side donw in our sets.
I liked this challange it was fun and got us to use our brains.

Another good challenge i think would be if it had something to do with spelling and like a treasure hunt or something like that were we have to dgo around the school and find somthing.

MInute Maid Juicerunoy

A minute maid can was half full when Johny gave Joe the rest. Joe drank 3/5 of that. How much is left in the can?

The Great 8O Race

Today we did a race in ELA and it was one of the funnest things ever. We did some physical activity, math, and team work with it. The math questions were multiplication with the facts only form 0 to 10. The Physical activity part was the push-ups and the chain running. The team work part was the chain running and having to turn as a team and shuffle as a team. I hope we do another physical activity event sometime.

X-Games

I think the first oylimpic challange went very secsesfully and the next thing could be something simlier but do it throughout the school but two people or three people are in a group and then the rest are scatered around the school and they could answer a question and then move on to the next people in the relay race and who gets to the classroom the fastest winns and if you get a answer wrong then you loss 5 points for every answer you get wrong.

olympic challenge

I enjoyed the first olympic challenge within our groups today. My favorite part of the event was when we had to lock arms with in our team and run around the tables in the library.

I think for the next event we should each do 100 push ups, 50 sit ups and 25 jumping jacks then run outside and put one person on those black tubes. After that we have to pull the person around the back 2 times
