Hi (:
I think the post by drew on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 helped me a lot, because i didn't really knew how to this before but now I know.
Thanks! (:

One That Helped Me Remember

I thought that

Review of 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 by gilles helped me the most.

Finding the surface area of a cylinder

The one that I thought that I could understand was Cody Petracek on January, 16, 2009.
Find in the surface area of a cylinder because it shows you the steps and how to do it.

Thanks

Selina reminded me on how you have to get the reciprocal to divide fractions.

Math Help

http://107mathblog.blogspot.com/2010/03/multiplying-and-dividing-intergers.html#links

I think this really helped me with multiplying fractions and dividing them too...
I like how it shows a picture of how to change the sign when dividing.
The different colors really made the post stand out.
I also liked how they put what they did in the picture and they explained it very good.

Math help

I got to say this year went fast. We like haven't checked this blog in like 2 billion years. But i got to say that one post I remember the most is Tanner's Grand Prix game. It involves solving multiplication questions while you race. I'm not to good with multiplication so it helped.

The Post That Helped Me The Most!

The post that helped me the most was the one by Chris because it helped me to remember how to divide fractions

Post that helped me

This helped me with finding the volume now i remember how to do this for the exam. http://107mathblog.blogspot.com/search/label/Math

what i found helpful

i found selinas the most help when it was dividing fractions. it tells you that you have to flip the one if you are going to multiplied.

Good Review for me

I like Brittany McIntosh's post of volume because it helped me remember how to do find the volume. The post was creative in it's own way. I thought she had the best one.

HELP!!!!

the post that I have to say helped me the most is the house one made by Chris,
it helped me remember to divide into fractions and helped me to figure out fraction questions.

Good for Review

The posts about how to divide fractions helped me a lot. This was one of the units that gave me some trouble and this post gives an example which easily shows me how to divide fractions. This post was very well done and is a good thing to review for the final exam.

IT'S BEEN SOOO LONG

We are back online! its been like how many months since we've did any posts, it's like we were died! said Mr.O ! One of my absolute favorite math games was the Pacman math game!!!!

Reviewing Math

I found that my post on Finding the Length of the Hypotenuse helped me right away because I looked at the equation and I remembered what I was doing.

What Helped The Famous Gilles Bauche In Math??

What post helped me in math the most????

I would probably have to say Keisha and Llinos's post titled, "Multiplying and Dividing Integers" helped me the most.

It helped me remember that if the integers have the same sign, then the answer is positive. If the signs are different, then the answer is negative.

Percentage dots

For this game it says for example 20% of 50 so you have to figure out 20% of 50 which would be 10 then click 10 out of the 50 dots. If the question is harder to figure out how many dots to click you have to times the percent and the number.

0.2 x 50= 10

This a good math game cause it shows how good you are at your multiplication or addition. How far can you get?

MATH GAME

I found a math game on making a pizza using fractions. In this exclusive game, orders are received detailing the contents of the pizza. From this point forth, you must prepare the pizza specifically according to the orders.
There is a time limit, in which you must make the most possible pizzas. You make a certain amount of money for each pizza, but if you mess up the order, you pay a fine!!!!!!
This game is fun for 2 minutes, so have fun.

Multiplying and Dividing Intergers

Homework: page 291-292 #5-8 and #13-20
Rules:
1. do the number
find out the answer to the question

2. apply the rule
find out if it is a - or +

When the two integers are the same multiplied or divided they will always equal a positive
(+3) x or / (+7) = (+21)
(-3) x or / ( -7) = (+21)

When the two integers are different multiplied or divided they will always equal a negative

(-3) x or /(+7) = (-21)
(+3) x or / (-7) = (-21)

Volume of a Cylinder

Today in Math class we started to work on 7.3. 7.3 is on the volume of a cylinder.

This is an example of how to find the height of a cylinder given the volume of the cylinder and the area of the base (circle):

What is the height of the cylinder?

Volume = Area of the base x height.........from here on out I will call "Area of the base" simply "area"

To figure this out,you have to get height by itself on the right side of the equal sign because height is what you are trying to find. To get height by itself, you have to take Area divided by itself and what ever you do to one side of the equal sign, you've got to do to the other. Then you take volume divided by area.

If you take 150 divided by 48 it equals 37.5. The height of the cylinder is 37.5 cm2.

To find the volume of a cylinder you have to use the formula:

Remember that there is a difference between the diameter and radius. The diameter is the length across the circle. The radius is from the middle of the circle to any point on the outside.

Also remember that radius squared is radius times radius, NOT radius times 2!

Homework for tomorrow is 7.3 # 4-12!

Math 7.2

Today in Math we continued working on 7.2. We were doing questions 4,6,7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, and 17 on page 258, 259, and 260. After you were done those questions you were to self correct and if you had any wrong you were to figure out what you did wrong and fix it.

If you know the formula's for finding the volume for rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, and eventually cylindrical prisms you pretty much know the unit.

The formula for finding the volume of a rectangular prism is: lxwxh.

The formula for finding the volume of a triangular prism is:(basexheight divided by 2)

The formula for finding the volume of a cylindrical prism(cylinder) is: (pie x radius squared x height)
For question 10 you were to find out the volume of the empty space of each object. Here is how you would do a)

a) 4/5 full of facial tissues
The first thing you would do is go (lxwxh)
(10x10x10)=1000
Since you want to figure out how much empty space your calculating you go 5/5-4/5=1/5
Since you want to figure out the amount of empty space in the box you would take 1000/1 x 1/5 because the 1/5 is the amount of empty space.
1000/1x1/5=1000/5=200/1
200cm3 is the amount of empty space in the tissue box

ELA- Today in ELA we went to the computer to type up our newspaper articles.
Hopefully I did an alright job in explaining everything.

Finding the Volume of Prisms

Today we started off in math class with correcting 7.1 numbers 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13.
We then started on working on 7.2 and that is what I am going to show you what to do.
Find the Volume of a Triangular Prism

First you find the area of the triangle. Remember the formula, if you don't it is:
A=(b x h)/2
A=(13 x 8)/2
A=104/2
A=52cm2

Once you have figured that out you take the answer you got and multiply it by the height so like this:
V=A x H
V=52 x 12
V=624cm3

Remember that behind the final answer the units must be cm3, mm3, or m3. Not cm2, mm2, or m2 because that is what you use for area.

Finding the Volume of a Rectangular Prism

First off you must find the area of the base which the formula to find that out is:

A= l x w
A= 3 x 4
A= 12cm2

You take what you have there and multiply it by the height:

V= 12 x 12
V= 144cm3

Remember as well as the rectangular prism you must have the right units (cm2, mm2, or m2).

Finding Only the Certain Amount of Volume

First find the area of the triangle (A= (b x h)/2)
Second take the Area multiplied by the height of the prism
Thirdly the part we haven't covered in this post is take the volume multiplied by how full it is:

V= 642/1 x 1/3
V=642/3= 214cm3

The same goes for a rectangular prism.

ELA

In Ela today we typed out our Dear Abby letters for our newspaper. Right after that we got a different Dear Abby. You were suppose to read it and then give it a reply.
We also started writing out our seven articles for the newspaper.
Lastly we silent read for 10 minutes.

Homework and Olympic Ending

Due for tomorrow is the 7.1 sheet, if you are done that you can start on 7.2 in the textbook. You must do 2 practice, 3 apply, and 2 extend questions from this chapter and you must get them all right after you correct them with the answers in the back of the book before you can move to 7.3. You must do the same in this chapter. In science we worked on the density sheet.

Remember to get your ski trip forms and money in and badminton players also must get forms and the $5 in by next Wednesday.

We did the wind up for the class Olympics in the afternoon and had lots of fun with tug-o-war, speed skating, and GT racing. Hope Thebes wins the gold.

Correcting and Newspapers

Math- In Math today we did some correcting and some helping. We corrected chapter 7: Volume; Get Ready.
Right prisms and right cylinders have lateral faces that meet the base at 90%

Using mental math includes estimating. 3 ways to estimate are: round both down (4.5+67= 4+60), round both up (4.5+67= 5+70) or round one up and one down (4.5+67= 5+60).
~
A question lots of people had trouble with was 3. b) and c).
~
3. Calculate the area of each shaded region. Round your answers to the nearest tenth.
B)

First you have to find the area of the square. Then the area of 1 circle then times it by 4.
Since 6cm is the radius of 1 circle and 2 circles are side by side you times the radius by 4

E.L.A.- Today in E.L.A. we read our articles we made yesterday. (article #3, Headline only). After that Mr. O read the actual article. Then we talked about a column named Dear Abby, then Dear Annie. We discussed those for a bit and then wrote our own (without our name). Mr. O will then hand them out sometime to random people and they will answer them. Once we were done we had free time.
